The Nobody Left Outside initiative participated with the NLO Voices series in the European Health Forum Gastein 2021. Members of the NLO network discussed the EHFG programme through the lense of marginalised communities, interview relevant experts, and envision what must be done to make sure nobody is left outside as we strive for a resilient recovery in Europe.

In this podcast, we speak with Andrea Ammon and John Kinsman from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and discuss the EHFG Session “Community engagement for health emergencies: Integrating lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic”.

We cover the role of community engagement in emergency situations, the need to integrate it into preparedness plans and how it can be institutionalized to ensure funding, understanding, staffing and political will.  We further speak about involvement of marginalised communities in consultation processes and policy making, the social determinants of health and the role of long-term health data.

Join us for an exciting and insightful discussion with:

  • Andrea Ammon, Director, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control
  • John Kinsman, Expert on Social and Behavioural Change Communication, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control
  • Mario Cascio, Program Chair for Quality of Life, European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG)
  • Luca Stevenson, Coordinator, European Sex Workers’ Rights Alliance (ESWA)

Many thanks to our guests for taking the time to speak with us!
